Amy Devers is a furniture designer/ maker, sculptor, finish carpenter and home improvement expert.

She's also a lazy audiophile, allergic dog lover, adventurous eater, terrible cook, mischievous little sister, true friend, total dork, and part-time smart ass.

She was born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan, just outside of Detroit. Then she zig-zagged across the country to earn three college degrees. First she headed to New York City for an AAS degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising from SUNY-Fashion Institute of Technology, then to the west coast where she obtained a BA in furniture design from San Diego State University, and finally all the way back to the east coast where she completed her MFA in furniture design at the Rhode Island School of Design.

In addition to formal education she has picked up a vast amount of work experience as a teacher, fabricator, contractor, and independent designer / builder of furniture and interiors. Fluent in all manner of making things, she is versatile in wood, upholstery, metal, and plastics, among others with a particular interest in unexpected materials, found objects, and sustainability. A fine artist as well as a designer, she has exhibited internationally in galleries and museums.

In addition to her artwork, she is currently operating Amy Devers Art/Design, a design/build studio in Los Angeles, working on getting her LEED accreditation, and writing a book.

Plus, she's all up in your tv set. Check her out on Trading Spaces (TLC,) Blog Cabin (DIY,) Freeform Furniture (DIY,) and DIY To the Rescue (DIY & HGTV.)
